Triathlon in Olympic 2008 is going to open up new dimension in the field of Triathlon competition. Here we are providing you with a brief idea about the game of Triathlon. The triathlon is an adventurous event which consists of a 1.5km swimming, a 40km cycling and a 10km long walking track. The participants will get two breaks to take proper care or change bikes and running shoes. The swimming and walking are two crucial parts which play a leading role in determining the champion. For the first time in the history of triathlon, movable plastic racing tracks will be used in the 2008 Beijing Olympic. The 20,000 square meter plastic tracks are made of outworn tires by a Zhejiang company which is specialized in environmental-friendly products.
In order to organize this event properly, The Olympic Triathlon Venue has been inaugurated recently. The International Triathlon Union has described this track as one of the most environmental-friendly triathlon venue in the whole world. Located at the Ming Tomb Reservoir in Changping District of northern Beijing, this Olympic Triathlon Venue has a floor area of 11,767 square meters. It is one of the eight temporary facilities among the 31 Beijing-based Olympic venues.
This triathlon venue comprises a swimming venue and conversion zone with a length of 546 meters and a width of 27 meters which is located at the foot of the reservoir's dam. It also comprise a stand on the slope slope of the dam with temporary seats for spectators and media. There is also an additional VIP lounge with functional rooms and auxiliary facilities for press conferences, logistics and security purposes. This project also involves the construction of a 680 meter-long road to fulfill the purpose of cycling section of triathlon.
