Wheelchair tennis was introduced to the Paralympic Games for the first time in 1988 as a demonstration sport and achieved full medal status at 1992 Barcelona. It has now bcome one of the highest profile events in the Paralympic Games and, in September 2004, all the top players of the paralympic tennis game are participating in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
