The sports Handball in Olympic 2008 will take place from 9th August to 24th August. The venue of the Handball in Olympic 2008 is the National Indoor Stadium. This stadium can accommodate around 19,000 spectators. The stadium is located on the ‘Olympic Green’ (which is actually an Olympic park) in Beijing. In this stadium, apart from the handball, competitions in trampoline and gymnastics will also be held in Olympic 2008.

A National Olympic Committee may enter just one men's and one women's team in the handball competitions in the Olympic games.
Handball is a team game where two teams of seven players each, comprising six players and a goalkeeper, pass and bounce a ball and try to throw the ball in the goal of the opponent team.
The game has a goal very much like football. But the goal is smaller than the one in soccer. As it is evident from the name of the game, the basic method of handling the ball involves the hands of the players rather than their feet. The game has been played at the international level since the early1920s.
Handball was incorporated in Olympic sport during the Olympic Games in 1972 which was held in Munich. China is organizing the Olympic Games in 2008. But China tasted little success in this event. The only medals won were by the Chinese athletes in Los Angeles Olympic Games in 1984. The women’s team won the bronze medal there. At the 2004 Athens Olympics China reached the quarterfinals. However, they were lost to Denmark.
This sport has always been an interesting sport. Handball in Olympic 2008 is likely to be the center of attraction this year as well like all the previous years.
