Football/Soccer in Olympics 2008 will be held in Beijing and many other cities in China from 6 August to 24 August. The Associations which are affiliated with FIFA are invited to send their National Teams. According to the rule of the Olympics Game, men's and women's national Under 23 teams are eligible to participate. However, Men's teams are allowed to include three players over the age of 23 in their team.
For winning the football/soccer title in Olympic 2008, the men will be competing in a 16-team tournament, whereas the women have to compete in a 12-team tournament. The preliminaries of Football/Soccer in Olympic 2008 will actually commence two days prior to the official opening of the games on August 8.

Men's Football in Olympic
The qualifying tournament for Olympic, like the World Cup tournament, is organized along the continental lines. Most teams of different continents organize a special Under-23 qualifying tournament. But the European qualifiers are chosen from the finalists of the UEFA Under-21 Championship. For the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, the number of places allocated to each continent was:

Women's Football in Olympic
There is no age restriction in women's football tournament in Olympic. The teams are drawn from the best of the previous year's World Cup. One spot in the tournament remains reserved for the host country.
