The sport, Fencing in Olympic 2008, will be held from August 9 to August 17 at the Olympic Green Convention Center. Fencing is one of the four sports which featured at every modern Olympic Games. Fencing is the sport which involves armed combat like cutting or stabbing weapons directly. It is done by hand and is not shot or positioned in some other way.

10 different sets of medals will be awarded in the following categories of events at Fencing in Olympic 2008:

Individual Sabre Women

Qualifying Criteria at Fencing in Olympic 2008
A National Olympic Committee may enter maximum 3 athletes per weapon for those weapons in which there is a team event. They can enter up to 2 athletes per weapon for which there is no team event.
For every team event there will be eight qualified teams and a team will be there from the Host Nation. The teams will get qualified according to the following criterion:
FIE Official Team Ranking as on March 31, 2008 (best 4 teams)
Highest ranked team from each zone: America, Europe, Asia/Oceania, Africa beside top 4 in FIE Team Ranking.
For every individual event there will be 39 qualified athletes:
All the athletes who are qualified for team competition
The 3 highest ranked athletes in the FIE Individual AOR
The 7 highest ranked athletes from FIE Individual AOR zone wise. (Europe 2, America 2, Asia/Oceania 2, Africa 1)
The 5 highest ranked athletes from qualifying zonal events (Europe 2, America 1, Asia/Oceania 1, Africa 1)
For the remaining individual events of Fencing in Olympic 2008, 24 qualified athletes will participate.
